I remember hearing about this days after it happened. I started laughing. I agree that leaving was the best action, but I disagree with his timing. Just before he was scheduled to go on I would be calling for my car and getting ready to leave. This would have forced Tom and his producer to make a decision. End DR Laura's segment and put him on, or lose him. Then after leaving I would start attempting to get on a nighttime talk show in direct competition with Tom.

How far back? Did the conductor walk back to the head end, or did someone give her a lift?

I remember Willie Nelson was on some show one time on a Saturday morning and the other guest-some random guy that was going to tell a story about what had happened to him..anyway he gets out one sentence and they interrupt him and his story and we never hear from him again and a little later Willie sings a song. I just thought how rude...guy flies from across the country and you do that? Not a good producer that for sure.
